Dr. Laidley, her staff, patients and families have an award-winning team that has walked together since 2004 in the Dallas Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The "Laidley's Ladies" celebrate the courage, strength and growth a patient and their loved ones experience as they go through the breast cancer journey. All patients, families and friends are welcome to join us in the fight to find, treat and one day prevent breast cancer. Dr. Laidley is a breast surgeon.
Dr. Laidley received her Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1977. After working as an environmental parks planner for three years, she returned to the University of Alberta and received her Medical Degree with Distinction in 1984. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada, in 1990 followed by a fellowship in critical care medicine in 1992. When off duties in the ICU, she rotated through all aspects of breast cancer care including breast imaging and medical, radiation and surgical oncology.
Dr. Laidley has authored and co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals as a result of the research she performed during her residency. She continues to publish articles in the field of breast cancer. Dr. Laidley is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery (1993, 2003) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is certified by the American Society of Breast Surgeons in Breast Ultrasound (2004, 2010).
Dr. Laidley currently serves on the Governing Board of the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Medical City Dallas Hospital. She has held multiple leadership positions at Medical City Dallas Hospital, including Chief of General Surgery from 1998-2000, is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society and serves on the society’s membership committee.
Dr. Laidley is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and was on the Board of Directors from 2006-2009. She is active with the Society and serves on many committees, teaches courses and has given presentations at the annual meetings. She is the Chair of the Mastery of Breast Surgery Committee which has developed a voluntary Web-based quality improvement initiative for surgeons to report on their performance in breast surgery.
